After nine years abroad, I found myself consciously and unconsciously adapting to a new environment, yet feeling isolated as I tried to hold onto my sense of self. In an effort to protect this, I withdrew, often finding familiar scenes that mirrored my own state—lonely, serious, sometimes even with a hint of wit. 

Though I wanted to engage, I felt detached, observing from a distance. These photographs capture moments of this experience, reflecting my gaze over the years as I navigated adaptation, solitude, and the instinct to preserve a part of myself amidst change.
