
Lynn Basa
Lynn Basa, an encaustic artist, uses fire and layering to create dynamic works by revealing and concealing layers. Based in Chicago, her art is featured in major collections like the Museum of Arts and Design (New York) and the Museum of Fine Arts (Boston). She has participated in significant exhibits such as Craft Today and the Smithsonian’s Threadworks.
Basa has taught at SAIC and Hyde Park Arts Center, authored The Artist’s Guide to Public Art, and holds an MFA from SAIC. Born in Pittsburgh and raised in Bloomington, Indiana, she moved to Seattle for grad school and then to Chicago in 2002. In 2014, she founded Corner, a project space, and in 2017, the Milwaukee Avenue Alliance.
